New online bereavement counselling service

Hello everyone,

We have begun trialling a new bereavement counselling service for members of the Sue Ryder Online Community to provide additional support for anyone coping with bereavement. We know how difficult it can be to access the support you need when you need it, so we have developed this service to help fill that gap.

This service is free to use and the sessions are held over secure video chat, meaning that you can access support from the comfort and safety of your own home.

To access the service you just need to register, provide us with a few details about your current situation, and book your initial assessment with a trained counsellor. After your assessment you will be able to have up to 6 weekly support sessions via video chat.

At the moment this service is only available to logged in members of the community, so if you're not yet a member you'll have to join the community before you're able to book an appointment.

This is a brand new service for Sue Ryder and we would welcome your comments or feedback. There's more information about the service on the About page. If you have any questions about the service and how it works please do get in touch by emailing or send me a private message.

Best wishes,
Online Community Manager

Hi ButterflySundae,

Absolutely - you'd be more than welcome to book in for an assessment and explore with one of our counsellors how we can best support you.

Let me know if you have any other questions about the service or if there's anything I can do to help.

Take care,

I don't have Skype and not sure about video on my phone. Can I access this service in some way? J

Hello Jackie,

We don't use Skype for this service, we use another similar program called Zoom. Zoom is an app, which you can download for phones, tablets or desktops and it links up with your camera/webcam for the video. To access the service you just need to register, book your assessment, and you'll then be sent instructions for how to start your session.

I hope that helps. Let me know if have any other questions or are unsure about an aspect of the service. We do also have some FAQs, which include answers to common questions:

Take care,
